Belt Breaks
Causes Corrections
Incorrectly made splice/poor adhesion 
  • Bring belt to Taurus' attention  

Too heavy work pressure  
  • Reduce pressure, use coarser grit size, change belts

Cone shaped roll or roll/shoe not parallel to carriage or feed belt 
  • Dress roll to remove cone shape 

  • Re-align system  

Not enough belt tension under work load 
  • Increase belt tension  

  • Do not over-tighten  

Too much belt tension for grit in use
  • Adjust tension  

  • Should not be more than required under load to prevent slippage

Foreign particles finding their way inside belt between roll or platen
  • Eliminate the possibility 

  • Efficient dust collection best prevention

Shock load against belt such as overlapping one panel over another or thicker panel than for the set-up 
  • Guard against double sheeting oversize panels

Belts creased or damaged in handling 
  • Handle carefully
